BRCvr Film Festival On February 5: A Festival in the Metaverse After a Wild Virtual Burning Man
BRCvr, the group that has organized the virtual Burning Man 2021, is now trying to organize a film festival in virtual world. The event excites many who enjoy virtual exhibitions.

BRCvr, a group that tries to create “immersive virtual experiences” as they claim on their website, now comes up with a metaverse film festival. In the year before, they have done a virtual Burning Man, which received awards from institutions as a quality virtual experience. Now, they announced that there will be a film festival called “BRCvr Film Festival” on February 5. As people got used to watching movies from home, going to VR Chat, remote work, and virtual exhibitions, the festival attracted attention from the web.
What will be at the BRCvr film festival?
According to the official information presented on the website, “Films will be presented in truly immersive virtual worlds. Artist Q & A sessions will happen in real-time across multiple platforms for radical inclusion. After parties will enjoy music from world-class DJs.” And as the commentary from a co-founder goes, the movies will include their own VR worlds and environments for the movie viewer to make the experience immersive. As they have done this kind of event before and received awards for innovation, the expectation and hype are there, and people want to see a quality immersive festival from the comfort of their homes.

How to attend the festival?
It is told that for attending the festival, you can Altspace VR and if you do not have a VR set, you can still join from Zoom. The festival seems to charge nothing for joining and only requires you to register through a link provided on their website. The website is linked at the beginning of the article for ease of access.
Slap metaverse on everything?
To be honest, I have written 3 Metaverse Articles in recent times, the most interesting one was about Walmart Metaverse as it is linked here. The term metaverse nowadays seems to be used for every kind of community VR experience that tries to bring revenue.
While some people on the web say that “It’s not a (uni)verse if they are separated VR events”, some add that “It is just becoming a buzzword for cool new-gen virtual activities.” While it is good that we use technology in the pandemic time to have fun and do everything from a virtual world, it is good to not overuse and turn it into a meaningless buzzword.
