NASA Is Preparing Next Generation Spacesuits for Moon Mission and Beyond
Astronauts will be more nimble as never before.

Spacesuits worn by astronauts have evolved over time as the latest move came from SpaceX that designed the futuristic flight suits. Now revolutionary NASA spacesuit is on the way.
NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley wore the new suits for a mission toward the International Space Station (ISS) last year, and they gave the suits 5-star rating.
It marked the moment of testing the SpaceX’s suits during a manned space flight and the time spent on the ISS for the first time.
NASA Spacesuit is described as a ‘revolutionary’ move
Following the attempt of space enthusiast Elon Musk‘s company, NASA is now coming together with the industry for “revolutionary new spacesuits for exploration like we’ve never seen before,” said the agency. “With enhanced mobility, our astronauts will be more nimble than ever before.”
New spacesuits will be worn by future astronauts on a mission to the ISS, as part of Artemis program, at Gateway orbiting the moon, and ultimately for humanity’s next giant leap, which is aimed to be Mars.

Back in 2019, NASA unveiled its new design for future spacesuits that astronauts will wear for missions to the moon’s surface. Shortly known as xEMU, the Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit builds on the design of the current suits already worn by astronauts on the ISS.
According to NASA, xEMU is under construction for a trip to the moon in 2024.
“We will try to get the suit onboard the space station as fast as we can, to get data before we go down to the moon, but it’s not a requirement,” said Chris Hansen, chief engineer of the ISS at NASA.
