UK Firm Behind Tom Cruise’s Space Film Plans to Launch Space Movie Studio in 2024
Content creators, filmmakers, and other artists will be able to film or live broadcast from 250 miles above the Earth.

Space Entertainment Enterprise (SEE), a London-based British company, revealed ambitions to establish a space movie studio and sports arena by late 2024. The company has contracted Axiom Space, an American commercial space station builder that is working with NASA to build Axiom Station, a commercial space station linked to the ISS. Axiom’s initial module is scheduled to dock with the ISS in 2024 to start developing the station.
Before Axiom finally detaches its space station from the ISS as a standalone spacecraft in 2028, SEE will attach its own module to the growing station in December 2024. The module, dubbed SEE-1, will be serviceable for anyone who is interested in making films or live-streaming content in space, such as movies, sports events, entertainment, or any other content. “SEE-1 is an incredible opportunity for humanity to move into a different realm and start an exciting new chapter in space,” the co-founders of SEE, Dmitry and Elena Lesnevsky, expressed.
More about SEE’s space movie studio
So, as been contracted, Axiom Space is developing the SEE-1 module that will host entertainment events from artists and creatives. The module will be 20 feet (about 6 meters) in diameter. The SEE website showcases the animated exterior of the module, which resembles a large white sphere. However, there is no display for the interior.
The British company said that it would also allow the inflatable studio to accommodate other parties who want to create their own projects. As of now, SEE has not provided any information regarding the fee or charged budget for studio utilization.

Michael Suffredini, the CEO of Axiom, said, “Adding a dedicated entertainment venue to Axiom Station’s commercial capabilities in the form of SEE-1 will expand the station’s utility as a platform for a global user base and highlight the range of opportunities the new space economy offers.”
SEE has a number of remarkable consultants working with the company, including former executives at HBO, Endemol, and Viacom. As Tom Cruise’s trip to space for his film project was postponed last October owing to financial constraints, SEE is now looking for investors for the project, which will cost no less than $200 million.
SEE stated that it would also conduct fundraising immediately, especially since the cost of going into space might be more than anticipated.
NASA, Axiom, and SpaceX are involved in sending Tom Cruise into space
SEE disclosed in an announcement that it served as the production firm for Tom Cruise’s forthcoming space film. Earlier, NASA revealed in 2020 that it was collaborating with Tom Cruise to send him into space and remain onboard the ISS for a movie project, and Axiom would also participate in taking the actor into orbit. Axiom has apparently made a contract with NASA and SpaceX for a Crew Dragon ride purchase to bring the company’s astronauts to the ISS.

The first mission of Axiom on a Crew Dragon, named Axiom-1, is slated to lift off in March of this year, but the flight date of Tom Cruise on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon is still unknown. What’s been confirmed is that an American film director, Dough Liman, is involved in the filming process of Cruise in space, though the detailed content of the project remains a mystery.
If SEE and the other agencies engaged in Cruise’s movie plan manage to realize the project in space, it will be the second movie ever filmed in space. Previously, in October, the ISS was the setting for a film that took place partially in space by a Russian film team that successfully made it to the ISS for a 12-day shoot.
Dmitry and Elena Lesnevsky regarded this as a fantastic opportunity. According to the couples, it would offer a one-of-a-kind and accessible home for infinite entertainment possibilities in a venue filled with modern infrastructure, unleashing a new world of creativity. Who knows, the worlds of film and television may one day reach “new heights.”
