Over a devastating attack by Russia, the Ukrainian government could transfer its sensitive data to another country, Reuters reported.

Today, data, especially sensitive ones, are stored on electric media, and in this context cyber security is of vital importance to protect data from unauthorized access.

“We are preparing the ground. Plan A is to protect the IT infrastructure within Ukraine. Removing it to another country would only be a “Plan B or C,” Victor Zhora, the deputy chief of Ukraine’s State Service of Information Protection, told Reuters.

Russian forces aim to encircle and capture Ukraine’s capital Kyiv. Pointing out the possibility of those forces reaching the center of Kyiv, Zhora said that the government was gearing up for a potential move of critical data out of the city.

Options for Ukraine

Then the question is about where to move this data. Zhora said some European countries offered them to harbor the country’s sensitive data, and one of the close countries to Ukraine would be preferred.

“There are a lot of options. All the proposals are highly welcome and worth considering,” he said. According to the Ukrainian official, a calculated transfer will require consent from lawmakers in the country.

To remind, after Germany invaded Norway in 1940, the latter’s Foreign Ministry data was moved to Britain. Coinbase, meanwhile, blocked thousands of Russia-related crypto wallets.
