Turkey, Japan Pen Cooperation Agreement to Explore Space Together
This collaboration is to “carry the Turkish-Japanese friendship into space.”

An agreement for Turkey Japan space cooperation was signed between the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in Dubai, in which the 72nd International Astronautical Congress (IAC) was kicked off.
The agreement for peaceful purposes, signed by TUA President Serdar Huseyin Yildirim and JAXA President Hiroshi Yamakawa, enables the two countries to improve experiments carried out on the International Space Station and further cube satellite launch efforts.

Turkey and Japan will take joint action to utilize the extreme environment of space as part of the collaboration. They also aim to develop cooperation on space science and space exploration, according to TUA’s announcement.

Turkish Space Agency
The IAC 2021 event organized at the Dubai World Trade Centre will conclude on October 29.
Established in 2018, the Turkish Space Agency is working on its ambitious projects including sending the first Turkish citizen into space, establishing a spaceport and reaching the Moon in 2023.

Japan is one of the partners of the ISS operating at an average altitude of 400 kilometers above Earth. Astronauts on the space station run scientific experiments within a wide range of disciplines, such as biology, space science, human research and physical science.
“We shook hands with President Hiroshi Yamakawa to carry the Turkish-Japanese friendship into space,” said the head of TUA in his tweet. “The game-changing effects of this collaboration will be evident in the future.”
