Elon Musk Says There Won’t Be Enough People for Mars if Population Collapses
Space tycoon is worried about Mars colonization.

Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, has said in his latest tweets that he was worried about population collapse on Earth.
Musk’s comments come following United Nations’ projections regarding the expected world population in the upcoming years. According to the UN Population Division’s estimation, population growth “could drop even further to 0.1% by 2100.” This is described as “a growth rate not seen since pre-industrial revolution days.” The projection also indicates that the global fertility rate will decrease from 2.5 births per woman between 2015 and 2020 to 1.9 from 2095 to 2100 on average.
“We should be much more worried about population collapse,” Musk said in his tweet. “UN projections are utter nonsense. Just multiply last year’s births by life expectancy. Given downward trend in birth rate, that is best case unless reversed.”
Elon Musk worries about not finding enough people to colonize Mars
The CEO of SpaceX is known as a vigorous advocate of colonizing Mars in the near future as he pointed out before that he was “highly confident” the first people would be carried out to Mars through his company by 2026. Musk also explained during a clubhouse interview, “The important thing is that we establish Mars as a self-sustaining civilization.”
“If there aren’t enough people for Earth, then there definitely won’t be enough for Mars,” Musk said in his tweet, airing his grievance regarding the global population downturn.
While Buzz Aldrin, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Bill Nye as well as Elon Musk defend establishing a permanent colony on the Red Planet, those who are in favor of pouring billions of dollars to the world instead of Mars claim starvation around the globe could be eliminated in this way.

The director of the United Nations’ World Food Programme, David Beasley, has called on the world’s richest men, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, to contribute to the efforts to solve hunger that affects millions of people.
“$6 billion to help 42 million people that are literally going to die if we don’t reach them. It’s not complicated,” said Beasley in an interview with CNN. With his current net worth above $300 billion according to Fortune, Musk challenged the statement and asked the UN to show how $6 billion of his fortune should be spent to terminate world hunger.
According to Paris-based Action Against Hunger, world hunger is affecting about 10 percent of the global population and the number of ill-fed people was on the rise from 2019 to 2020, reaching approximately 161 million.
