As we previously reported that the Pentagon in the United States would launch a new department within the Department of Defense to investigate UFO reports. Following alarming reports about UFOs in 2021, those unknown objects “challenge the US’ domination.”

The new department under the Pentagon named the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group will try to clear the air regarding Unexplained Aerial Phenomena (UAP), a military term version of UFO.

Pentagon’s effort to identify UFOs

“Our national security efforts rely on aerial supremacy and these phenomena present a challenge to our dominance,” said Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. The Pentagon aims to know more about those strange objects appearing in the sky, and experts being as part of the group will work to figure out the source of UFOs about whether they come from outer space or from a country.

“The United States needs a coordinated effort to take control and understand whether these aerial phenomena belong to a foreign government or something else altogether,” said Gillibrand, according to Mirror.

143 sightings remained unexplained

Meanwhile, the term UFOs stands for Unidentified Flying Objects, while some also define it as a “flying saucer.” The term appeared in the 1950s does simply mean any unknown objects seen by people in the sky. And a report in June 2021 revealed that the US government failed to explain 143 of the 144 sightings of unidentified flying objects spotted between 2004 and 2021, according to an intelligence report. The one that was identified was a deflating balloon, the report said. “The others remain unexplained.”

However, ufologists around the globe are not happy with what the Pentagon aims to do as they think that “the truth about possible visitors have been hidden from the masses for decades,” Mirror reported.

“We don’t see that this means new resources will be dedicated to the matter,” said Ron James, a spokesman for the Cincinnati-based Mutual UFO Network. “We believe that considerable resources have always been dedicated to the matter at some level inside deep government and industry.”
