Sony’s PlayStation division is undergoing significant changes, as the company announced plans to lay off around 900 employees, a move synonymous with Sony firing.

Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst elaborated on the scope of the layoffs, impacting various studios across the Americas, Japan, EMEA, and APAC regions. Regrettably, some ongoing projects will face discontinuation, highlighting the complexity of the restructuring process and its impact on Sony’s gaming ecosystem.

These developments follow Sony’s adjustment of its PlayStation 5 sales forecast, attributing the revision to shifting demand dynamics. The company now anticipates selling 21 million units, a reduction from the initial projection of 25 million consoles.
