WhatsApp to stop working for millions of users – check if you are on the list
WhatsApp support will end for some phones.

WhatsApp will no longer work properly for outdated smartphones including iPhone 4 and older as well as out-of-date Android devices, starting from January 1, 2021.
The Facebook-owned instant messaging platform will not support iOS 9 – the last software update for iPhone 4. Other older handsets still running Android 4.0.3 will also be affected. Both operating software were released in 2015 and 2011, respectively.
Users who have 4S, 5, 5S, 5C, 6 and 6S can get the updating for in-service WhatsApp on their phone, while Samsung Galaxy S2 will be among affected devices.
To remind, WhatsApp is currently one of the most popular social apps, having more than 2 billion users around the globe that are continually rising.
You should check your phone’s settings to see if the device runs iOS or Android 4.0.3. If yes, you will need to export your messages to preserve them.
Additional information: Number of monthly active WhatsApp users in millions worldwide from April 2013 to March 2020, per Statista.
